I don't know what to say either. To use the word 'good' would be an understatement.
Khairul Amri 81minute goal against the run of play was breathtaking. A superb individual display from him which resulted in the championship winning solitary goal for singapore. Had it not went in, the esult could have been so much different.
That Thai's played a very entertaining game. A lot better compared to the Singapore leg. They were all over the park. Their passing was fantastic and their crosses were mostly inch perfect. Their speed of play was incredibly fast while it combining with great skill. I take my hats off to them. To remain at the fast tempo throughout the game needs great fitness and skill. It was not a wonder why they took the lead first. Horrid defending by Singapore. I think it was more exciting to watch Thailand play then Singapore who pumped up mostly long balls with little or no success.
Still, when Singapore scored the equalising goal, I celebrated with joy as so did millions of other people watching at home on television.
I applaude Thailand for showing good play and good sportmanship. Very nuchu fair play. Well done. I believe had we not scored, the Thai could have a better chance at winning it with the numerous shots at goal. Loniel was practically bombarded with shots all game long.
In my opinion, this kind of competition is good for Singapore as it brings the whole nation together. Just look at the full house capacity during the semi-fianls and the finals. Some of my non-footballing-interested friends also amazing tuned into the game to watch. It's this kind of success that we can truely call our success.
First Leg:
Singapore 2 (N Alam Shah 17', M Fahrudin 90')
Thailand 1 (P Thonkanya 50')
Second Leg:
Thailand 1 (P Thonkanya 37')
Singapore 1 (Khairul Amri 81')
Singapore win 3-2 on aggregate .
Champions for two times in a row. Need i say more?
