I like what the commentator said at the start of kick-off. He said: 'The wait is over. Welcome to the FIFA world cup".

The match was highly entertaining. Well worthy of an opening match.

I felt the 4-2 score was a fair result. Germany dominanted for much of the game and they quite rightly deserved to win the match.

Despite Germany winning the game, they spurred a lot of chances. Out of 24 shots they had, only 11 were on target, scoring 4 goals. The same cannot be said of Costa Rica. Out of 4 mediocre chances, they had 3 shots on target, scoring 2 goals. Costa Rica took their chances really well. A 75% accuracy.

Germany need to buck up their defence if they want to go far in the World cup.

Whatever it is, Frings 87th min goal for Germany was a beauty. And absolute stunner. It was class. Probably one of the best goals i ever seen.

Finally, my man of the match isn't a German footballer but a Costa Rican player. And his name is Paulo Wanchope. At the age of almost 30, he is still incredibly fast and his timing is inch perfect. It's not a wonder why he posed as a trouble to the German defence.

The match was very good and I've no regrets on watching it.
